Omega, born Michael Pointer, is a mutant character in the Marvel Comics universe. His existence is a direct result of the events of "Collective," where a mutant entity composed of thousands of depowered mutants sought to restore mutant abilities.

Pointer, a postal worker with no prior knowledge of mutant powers, became the unwitting host for this Collective. This sudden and overwhelming influx of power manifested as Omega, capable of absorbing and manipulating energy on a massive scale.

Initially, Omega was unstable and lacked control over his abilities, causing widespread destruction and inadvertently killing several members of Alpha Flight. He was subsequently apprehended by the Avengers and taken into custody.

Throughout his history, Omega has been both a threat and, at times, an ally. He's struggled to control his vast power and has been manipulated by various forces. Despite his destructive potential, there have been moments where he has shown a desire to use his abilities for good, highlighting a complex and conflicted character.
